Isolation Final

This is the final edit of Isolation, there are only minor changes from the 2nd edit, just tightening the cuts. I did try and play with the last scene (order of shots) after speaking with Laura, but it did not create the narrative in a way I wanted it too. The way it ends is from the girl being completely distraught to calmer and pulling herself together, this reflects the mindset of being trapped and battling with herself and her emotions. It makes more sense to be showing the scene in this way, it adds to the confusion.

Overall, I am really pleased with my conceptual film... I love the way it has been shot and edited, my actress did an amazing job. I feel my narrative has come across well, but still making the audience consider what may have happened to the girl!

This is the final sound which will be used in my film, now I have been able to put it to the visual I have been able to get it just right. I realised that the voices were too loud, I wanted them to be more subtle, a whisper, before they were slightly aggressive and did not appear as thoughts as I intended. I also thought there were too may words so I have taken some out. The sound has edited well with the visuals, as each scene changes so does the sound slightly.

This is the second edit of which I have changed the ending, the reflection scene has been taken out, this is because I didn't feel the shots were as strong as some of the others. Also the location looks completely different to the others and I am worried it is too confusing as part of her journey. I have also tightened the shots and rearranged scene three, which I think looks much better now.

Isolation Rough cut

This is my first cut of Isolation, I realise it's not perfect at this stage, however, as a first cut I am pleased with the result. My actress was fantastic on the day and it shows in the footage, she presented the emotional fear as I imagined, if not better than I could have hoped for.

I am pleased that the film has been shot on the canon 5d as it gives great depth of field and is stunning to look at, I feel it has cinematic feel.

My only concern is the last scene, the reflection shot is an integral part of the film, however, it does not fit with the rest of the footage as well and it was not quite what I had imagined, I am thinking of taking it out to see how it looks, I do think it could work without as it will leave the audience still feeling that the emotional fear of Isolation, lonliness, vulnerable has not been resolved.

Ellie Goulding 'Your Song'

I have put Ellie Goulding's music video for Your Song on here because I love the lighting and the way it has been shot, I really like the lens flair and some of Ellie's movements and camera movements. I have asked my actress and DOP to look at this for it's stylistic style, however the mood of the video is not what I am looking for.

Cheryl Cole - The Flood

The reason I have looked at this music video is for character mood and the movement Cheryl Cole presents in it. Also it is set by the water which my film will also do so.

This is the second version which I have tweaked with some of the words, and made the sound better. I have presented this to my peers at university and asked for feedback on how the sound made them feel, The feedback was positive and the audience felt the emotions required.

I will now see how the sound design fits with the film before making any more changes.

Test Shoot - Bristol

After a cancelled shoot I decided it would be easier to film in Bristol where my actress lives. I went for a location reccy and these are the locations I am looking at filming at. They are open landscapes with water surrounding, the bridges have traffic so in the distance it will appear as if life is still going on for everybody else, even though the girl is in an emotional state.

This is the first attempt at sound for my video. I have decided to record trees swaying and also the creaking noise trees make. I wanted to blend this with the sound of voices saying words like isolation, lost, vulnerable and hurt. It still need work but it is a good start.

Test Shoot - Groby Pool

I have been on a location reccy today and found an ideal place called Groby pool, the water is clear and there is easy access to the edge for the reflection shot. These images show the reflection shots and the landscape of the environment. At this point this is looking like my most likely location. The weather plays an important part in my film, and I would like the sun to look like this!

America's Next Top Model Cycle 15 - Motion Editorial by Tyra Banks

After watching America's Next Model I was really inspired by this motion editorial, the way it has been shot is something I would like to recreate one day. Although it is not really anything like my Isolation film the character mood and pacing of the video could be similiar to what I am trying to achieve.
